Artist: 劉韻竹/Yun-Zhu, Liu • Paper-cut Artist and Educator
Yun-Zhu graduated from Institute of Museology of Tainan National University of the Arts in Taiwan. She joined “Papercut & Design” workshop in 2007, this led to a whole new paper-cut world. Yun-Zhu entered various paper-cut and design exhibits from 2007-2014. The mediums used include different types of paper, paper maché paste, paper pulp and recycled paper. Besides exploring the traditional Chinese paper-cutting process, the illustration themes and topics display a deep personal interest in nature. Recent works involve an experimentation of combining paper-cuts with handmade paper and paper pulp. Results can be seen in the following piece on display.
Si-Hua, Wang • Ceramic Artist
Sihua is a ceramic artist based in Taipei with over six years of experience working with clay. She is deeply influenced by the presence of nature—particularly the ocean, which remains an essential reference in her work. Her approach balances spontaneity with structure. Combining mold-making, hand-building, and wheel-throwing, she plays with contrasting textures and the dynamic interplay between glazes and underglazes. Before focusing on ceramics, she learned oil painting and watercolor, which enhanced her sensitivity to color and her appreciation for expression, and spontaneity. She often works intuitively, allowing pinching, carving, and scraping to create moments of organic chaos. This method, allows textures to surface that guide the final work.
Andy Chen • (Ocean) Photographer & Artist
Andy has spent over ten years documenting the marine life in Kenting. During this time he noticed the declining health of the oceans with less life and more plastic. Driven to do something he supported the local non-profits, worked with researchers, volunteered his free time, and helped launch World Turtle Day on Xiao Liu Qiu with The Society of Wilderness in 2012. He continues to be inspired by nature, photographing, sharing and creating.
